We need to wage war on starvation and discrimination. We need to focus on how to achieve balance and sustainability on the planet. | |

We need to reach beyond the current findings in technology, communication, and science and arrive at solutions and changes in behavior and attitudes. We need to conquer starvation and deadly diseases such as AIDs. Senator Fulbright was convinced that we can and must use our minds and hearts, developed through education with an international component, to find the most effective alternatives to conflict for the benefit of all society and nations. Let us hope that his ideas are remembered as we struggle toward peace. "In our quest for world peace the alteration of attitudes is no less important, perhaps more important, than the resolution of issues. It is in the minds of men, after all, that wars are spawned; to act upon the human mind, regardless of the issue or occasion for doing so, is to act upon the source of conflict and the potential source of redemption and reconciliation." - Senator William Fulbright |
